Raymond Mather worked with the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) during the mid-1990s, contributing to the production Cool Rebels through dance tutoring, movement-based workshops, and performance preparation for participating young performers.

Raymond worked directly with the production’s choreographer and director, Shannon Dolan, during the rehearsal and development phase. The two had an existing professional connection through the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), where Dolan was undertaking the Directors Course at the time.

Raymond Mather is credited as Ballroom Tutor, contributing to performer preparation and movement development as part of ATYP’s education and production program.

The workshops focused on movement awareness, physical confidence, ensemble coordination, and performance readiness, supporting performers involved in the production and related education activities. This work formed part of ATYP’s broader commitment to professional development within youth theatre practice during the period.

In addition to his teaching role, Raymond coordinated performers for events associated with the official opening period of Cool Rebels, contributing to the staging and presentation of opening-related activities at ATYP’s Walsh Bay premises.

During this same period, ATYP hosted a high-profile after-party at Walsh Bay following the Sydney premiere of the feature film To Die For. The event was attended by invited guests including Nicole Kidman, who was serving as an ATYP Ambassador at the time, and Ruth Cracknell, Patron of the organisation. The event also included attendance by Tom Cruise, who was in Sydney during this period.
