General Questions

About the Art

Q: Are ART1 artworks limited editions?

Yes. Each ART1 artwork is available in a strictly limited edition of 50 prints per size, printed on museum grade fine art paper. Every print is individually numbered, hand-signed, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Raymond Mather. Once an edition sells out, no further prints will be produced in that size or medium. In the future, select artworks may also be released as open edition canvas prints through our Designer Collection. These will be clearly marked, signed only (without edition numbering), and offered as a distinct product line for interior stylists and trade clients. The integrity and rarity of the fine art paper editions will always be maintained and never reissued.

Edition Availability

Q: How can I know how many prints are left in an edition?

Each ART1 limited edition print is individually numbered out of 50. You’ll see the current edition number displayed on the product page, so you can easily track availability. If you’d like more detail or have a specific request, feel free to email us, we’re always happy to assist.

Print Editions - Multiple Sizes

Q: Are different print sizes considered the same edition?

No. Each size is its own limited edition of 50. For example, if an artwork is available in three sizes, each size will have a distinct edition of 50 prints, individually numbered and signed.

Each limited edition is capped at 50 prints per size. Once sold out, no more will ever be produced in that edition. This ensures rarity and maintains collector integrity over time.

Print Production & Paper

Q: What kind of paper do you use for the fine art prints?

All ART1 prints are produced on archival, museum-grade 100% cotton rag paper by our print partner, Fantastic Framing. We use premium Canson fine art paper, known for its exceptional texture, weight, and longevity. This acid-free paper is paired with pigment-based inks to ensure rich colour depth and lasting archival quality.

Paper Printing
Semi Gloss Lustre 310gsm

Our semi-gloss archival paper reproduces the deepest, darkest blacks and exceptional grey tones, making it the product of choice for the more discerning black and white as well as colour photographer with a superb lustre finish. Artists find printing their art on semi-gloss lustre is a great way to give their work real impact.

100% cotton rag base with a platinum microporous coating. No optical brightening agents (OBAs) acid acid-free, and certified to avoid paper degradation.
Designed to meet gallery and museum longevity requirements – this is giclée printing at its finest.

Ink
Epson 20070 Ink Cartridges

UltraChrome Pro ink is based on Epson’s famous K3 & HDR ink. It has an aqueous (water-based) all-pigment construction that has been designed for professional and commercial print production. The formulation provides an extended gamut with superior colour accuracy and archival-level image stability.

Ink dries quickly to produce prints that are water and scratch-resistant. The ink set includes Vivid Magenta for brighter blues and pinks as well as Light and Dark Grey for improved balance with neutral greys, reduced bronzing and minimal colour casts/colour twist.

The Pro formulation features improved Matte and Photo Black inks that provide an enhanced Dmax for brighter prints with an enhanced tonal range in both B/W and colour. It also features a new Yellow ink that provides further durability enhancement with increased UV light resistance.

(Keep in mind our inks are already UV protective)

Image Colour & Display

Q: Will the colours of the print match what I see on screen?

While we do our best to ensure accuracy, colours may appear slightly different depending on your screen’s settings and calibration. ART1 prints are produced using museum-grade materials and archival pigment inks to ensure vibrant, true-to-tone colour and long-lasting quality.

Artwork Authenticity

Q: Is the artwork signed or numbered?

Yes. Each print is hand-signed and edition-numbered by Raymond Mather, and comes with a certificate of authenticity, artist statement, and artist bio.

Q: Can I request a custom artwork?

At this time, ART1 does not offer custom commissions. However, we welcome inquiries for commercial licensing or design partnerships.

Certificates & Documentation

Q: What comes with my artwork?

Each limited edition print includes: A signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity A short artist statement related to the piece or series Raymond Mather’s artist biography These documents are packaged separately to protect the artwork.

The Artists' Process

Q: How does Raymond create his artworks?

Each artwork begins as a photograph taken by Raymond, often in a moment of travel, reflection, or creative play. From there, some works remain close to their photographic origin, while others are pushed to their expressive limits through digital manipulation, layering, or colour reimagining. This fusion of pure photography and painterly digital effects defines the ART1 aesthetic.

Q: Why do some artworks include digital noise, grain, or pixel effects - are these flaws?

Not at all. These elements are intentional and part of the artistic process. Raymond Mather’s photographic work spans from pure photographic clarity to expressive digital experimentation. In some artworks, you may notice elements like noise, grain, pixelation, or visual artefacts. These are not printing flaws or resolution issues, they are creative choices that push the image to its expressive edge. Think of them as painterly textures in a photographic medium, each one part of the emotional language of the artwork. This technique allows for bold reinvention of the original photograph, creating pieces that are sometimes clean and refined, and other times wild, abstract, or richly layered. Each artwork is individually crafted and printed on archival museum grade paper, maintaining the highest standard of production and intentionality.

Q: How sustainable is ART1’s production?

All ART1 artworks are produced using a Print–Roll–Send model — made to order, no excess inventory, minimal waste. Prints ship rolled in recyclable tubes, reducing packaging and freight. Museum-grade paper and archival inks ensure longevity, meaning each piece is both eco-conscious and enduring.
