Project Overview

This project was commissioned by the owners of Headland Cafe, Valla Beach, to create a cohesive photographic image library for use across their website, social media, and print marketing.

The brief focused on developing a moody black and white visual identity, built around a “shoot the chef” concept that highlighted the energy, discipline, and personality of the kitchen and front-of-house team.

The resulting series captured food preparation, live service, plated dishes, and character-driven portraits, forming a flexible and long-lasting visual resource for the business.

Creative Approach

Working closely with chef Josh and front-of-house manager Amanda, the shoot was designed to unfold organically during real service periods.

Rather than staging artificial moments, the photography documented:

The rhythm of kitchen preparation

Precision and timing during service

Visual presentation of dishes

Human connection and personality

The atmosphere of a working hospitality space

The monochrome treatment unified the collection and reinforced a strong editorial and branding aesthetic.
