Cliche Life - Boot Scootin’ Baby - 60x60cm Square (#266837v1)

A miniature red cowboy boot takes centre stage against an intensely saturated field of hot pink, its yellow stars, dark detailing and tiny spur sharply defined against the surrounding colour.

In Boot Scootin’ Baby - 266837v1, repetition extends the central object beyond itself. Additional red boots emerge softly in the background, while a fragment of black-and-white patterned ceramic enters from the edge of the composition. The shallow depth of field transforms these familiar objects into areas of colour and shape, allowing the central boot to remain both recognisable and strangely monumental.

Part of Raymond Mather’s Cliché Life series, the photograph plays with kitsch, repetition, scale and the visual language of everyday novelty objects. Removed from their expected context and enlarged through photography, these small objects become an exuberant contemporary still life built around humour, colour and visual excess.
