Four brightly coloured miniature figures gather before a sweeping circle of colour in Circle of Friends - 267078v1, part of Raymond Mather’s ongoing Cliché Life series.

Orange, green, yellow and red figures stand together against overlapping bands of pink, green and yellow. Their simple forms create an almost anonymous little community, unified by colour while retaining their individual presence.

The familiar expression “circle of friends” is translated into a playful still life in which the circle becomes both backdrop and visual enclosure. The figures appear gathered within a shared space, suggesting companionship, belonging and the relationships that connect individuals to a group.

The saturated palette and translucent forms give the photograph an immediate Pop sensibility, while differences in position, focus and orientation prevent the group from becoming entirely uniform.

Part of Cliché Life, the work transforms familiar phrases into constructed photographic scenes using commonplace objects, humour and visual association.

Printed on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks. Each work is individually signed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
