Four brightly coloured miniature figures stand together against sweeping bands of pink, green, turquoise and yellow in Colourful Friends - 267074v1, part of Raymond Mather’s ongoing Cliché Life series.

Green, orange, yellow and red figures form a simple line, their translucent surfaces intensifying the saturated palette surrounding them. Behind the group, curving bands of colour create movement and energy, transforming the small figures into a vivid collective presence.

The familiar idea of having a “colourful” group of friends is translated literally through everyday objects. Each figure possesses its own colour and character while remaining unmistakably part of the group, creating a playful reflection on friendship, individuality and difference.

Through exaggerated scale, shallow focus and saturated colour, commonplace objects are removed from their ordinary context and transformed into a contemporary photographic still life.

Part of Cliché Life, the work explores familiar expressions through staged objects, visual association and humour.

Printed on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks. Each work is individually signed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
