Colourful gummy figures gather among miniature beauty accessories in I Feel Pretty - 266713v1, part of Raymond Mather’s ongoing Cliché Life photographic series.

A turquoise compact mirror, comb, brush, hand mirror and lipstick transform the white studio space into a miniature dressing table. Reflected in the compact mirror, the figures become distorted fields of yellow and orange, introducing another version of themselves into the scene.

Drawing on the familiar expression “I feel pretty,” the photograph playfully explores appearance, self-image and the everyday rituals associated with looking and feeling our best. The brightly coloured objects and confectionery figures create a deliberately artificial world in which beauty becomes both performance and play.

Part of Cliché Life, the work uses miniature objects, altered scale and visual humour to turn familiar language and everyday rituals into constructed photographic narratives.

Printed on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks. Each work is individually signed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
