Jump In My Car - 266627v1 transforms a familiar invitation into a deliberately literal miniature scene.

Two brightly coloured gummy figures stand on opposite sides of a mint-green toy four-wheel drive, while a third figure lies unexpectedly across its roof. The arrangement turns the everyday phrase “jump in my car” into a playful visual contradiction, where one character appears to have misunderstood the instruction completely.

Photographed at close range against a restrained background, the miniature objects take on an exaggerated sense of scale. Orange, yellow and green figures punctuate the pale vehicle, creating a simple graphic composition in which colour and placement establish the characters before the narrative becomes apparent.

Part of Raymond Mather’s ongoing Cliché Life series, the photograph uses familiar language and ordinary objects to reveal the strange and often absurd imagery contained within everyday expressions.
