Cliche Life - Out Of The Box - 90x60cm Horizontal (#266934v1)

Out Of The Box - 266934v1 transforms a familiar expression into a playful photographic still life, placing a group of colourful gummy figures inside a richly decorated orange box while a solitary green figure stands outside.

The open lid, embellished with beads and reflective details, leads the eye towards the figure that has stepped beyond the container. Surrounded by the intense orange of the box and separated from the colourful group remaining within it, the green figure becomes a small visual expression of independence and unconventional thinking.

The familiar phrase “out of the box” is interpreted literally while retaining its association with imagination, difference and moving beyond expected boundaries.

Part of Raymond Mather’s ongoing Cliché Life series, the photograph uses familiar objects, visual humour and literal interpretation to uncover the imagery and associations hidden within everyday language.
