Cliche Life - Santa Babies - 90x60cm Horizontal (#266852v1)

Santa Babies - 266852v1, wrapped in an oversized knitted hat and striped scarf, a tiny yellow figure almost disappears beneath the familiar trappings of Christmas in Santa Babies.

Bright red wool, white pompoms and a solitary translucent figure transform a miniature seasonal costume into an exaggerated portrait. The scale is deliberately absurd: rather than simply wearing its festive attire, the tiny character appears almost engulfed by it.

Playful and slightly ridiculous, Santa Babies turns the familiar language of Christmas into a small theatrical performance about dressing up, celebration and excess.

Part of Raymond Mather's ongoing Cliché Life series, the photograph uses collected objects, familiar references and constructed still life to transform everyday cultural clichés into unexpected visual narratives.
