A tiny translucent green figure lies quietly within a luminous landscape of folded transparent material in Sleep Like A Baby - 266887v1.

Photographed at close range and dramatically enlarged, the familiar confectionery form becomes strangely ambiguous. Its resting position suggests sleep, while the surrounding folds, reflections and translucent surfaces transform ordinary packaging into an almost weightless environment.

The familiar expression sleep like a baby evokes innocence, comfort and undisturbed rest. Here, the literal sleeping figure introduces another possibility. Removed from its everyday scale and context, something playful becomes unexpectedly still, vulnerable and uncertain.

Part of Raymond Mather's ongoing Cliché Life series, the work uses constructed still life, humour and changes of scale to reconsider familiar objects and everyday expressions.

Printed on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks. Each work is individually signed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
