Photographed at close range, the tiny confectionery forms are transformed through scale and careful arrangement. Red, green, yellow and orange figures emerge from the sugar-filled measuring glass, while a solitary purple figure stands in a mound of spilled sugar beside a teaspoon in the foreground.

The marked measurements on the glass introduce a familiar domestic reference, while the scattered sugar and isolated foreground figure shift the everyday ingredients into a playful miniature scene.

Part of Raymond Mather's ongoing Cliché Life series, Spoonful Of Sugar uses humour, familiar objects and photographic transformation to turn an everyday expression into a constructed visual world.
