Trolley Dolly - Series No.1: 197317, a familiar fairy tale takes on a poignant twist in this fine art photograph from Raymond Mather’s Trolley Dolly series. Seated on the edge of a weathered brick ledge, a Snow White doll rests beside an overflowing miniature trolley packed with everyday items, handmade soaps, folded cloths, plastic containers, beads, and household scraps. Her red shoes dangle above the pavement, her eyes forward, suggesting a stillness between exhaustion and quiet determination.
This work reframes the fairy tale heroine not as a figure of fantasy, but as a metaphor for resilience amidst instability. Like many women navigating precarious housing or invisible homelessness, she carries a world in small containers. With signature use of scale, texture, and symbolism, Mather transforms a child's plaything into an emblem of endurance.
Printed on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks. Each work is individually signed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
