Trolley Dolly - Series No.2: 19E2255v16, in this quietly unsettling composition, a dark haired rag doll slumps across the blue brick wall, her limbs splayed and her gaze hollow with weariness. Dressed in a neat uniform with green ribbons, she evokes both discipline and disarray, an emblem of forgotten care. At her feet rests the familiar symbol of urban survival: an empty red handled shopping trolley, neatly parked beside a weathered wooden door aglow with echoes of fruit and layered textures.
As part of Raymond Mather’s Trolley Dolly collection, this work continues the series’ commentary on the invisible crisis of homelessness. The doll becomes a stand in for the displaced, embodying both innocence and exhaustion. In its stillness, the image invites viewers to witness what’s often unseen, those who sit at the edges, waiting, surviving, overlooked.
Printed on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks. Each work is individually signed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
