Trolley Dolly - Series No.2: 19E2255v5, in this quietly powerful work from Raymond Mather’s Trolley Dolly series, a ghostlike female figure emerges from the brickwork, her form barely visible, yet unmistakably present. A large spotted feather crosses her shoulder like a mark of remembrance, protection, or quiet protest. Below, a red handled shopping trolley sits idle, its emptiness a potent metaphor for absence, disconnection, and need. A slatted wooden door, glowing with faint traces of market fruit and shadows of past lives, acts as both portal and barricade.
This image explores the invisibility of homelessness, particularly among women, and the symbolic burden carried by those who slip through society’s margins. It speaks through texture, silhouette, and stillness, creating an atmosphere of reverence and unresolved tension.
Printed on museum-grade archival cotton rag paper using archival pigment inks. Each work is individually signed and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
