The famed granite boulders, once a hideout for the bushranger Captain Thunderbolt, anchor the scene, their pink and mossy hues set dramatically against a field of white and a luminous blue sky. Photographed in Uralla, a place Raymond Mather has both passed through and paused many times within, this image blends grounded realism with playful reinvention.
